What We Do

Mood Disorders
Mood Disorders
Mood affective disorders, is a group of conditions where a disturbance in the person's mood is the main underlying feature. A high scores on the personality domain neuroticism is a strong predictor.
ADHD
ADHD
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is characterized by difficulty paying attention, excessive activity, and behavior without regards to consequences which is not appropriate for a person's age.
Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety disorders are a group of mental disorders characterized by significant feelings of anxiety and fear. Anxiety is a worry about future events, and fear is a reaction to current events.
Trauma
Trauma
A mental health condition triggered by a terrifying event either experiencing it or witnessing it. Symptoms include flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.
Early intervention for Psychosis
Early intervention for Psychosis
Early intervention in psychosis is a preventive approach for psychosis that has evolved as contemporary recovery views of psychosis and schizophrenia have gained acceptance.
Addiction
Addiction
Addiction is a disorder of the brain's reward system which arises through transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms and develops over time from chronically high levels of exposure to an addictive stimulus.

In addition to the standard psychiatric treatment including therapies we offer the following interventions to sufferers of mental health problems:

01

Adult Psychiatry

General adult psychiatrists normally treat people who are “working age”, with a wide range of disorders, including manifestations of “organic” brain disorders, psychoses, depressive illness and personality disorders.
02

Child Psychiatry

Child psychiatry focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders in children. It investigates the biopsychosocial factors that influence the development and course of these psychiatric disorders and treatment responses to various interventions.
03

Old Age Psychiatry

Old age psychiatry is the holistic assessment, treatment and continuing care for older adults who suffer from a range of mental health problems including dementia, depression and schizophrenia.
04

Addiction Psychiatry

Addiction psychiatry focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of people who are suffering from one or more disorders related to addiction. This may include disorders involving legal and illegal drugs, gambling, sex, food, and other impulse control disorders.
How Assessment is done

How Assessment is done

Individuals undergo an initial psychiatric assessment when they attend the clinic in which the history is taken of the problem in relation to their current life and commitments, as well as more developmentally to look at the context of the past. The presenting situation is formulated and discussed with the person.

A frequent presentation is that in which a broadly emotionally healthy person gets overwhelmed by life pressures, with the presenting symptoms of anxiety, depressive mood change and/or emotionality – an essentially normal reaction to ongoing stress - what is called an Adjustment Disorder of which bereavement is a good example.
